About Gopalpur On Sea
Gopalpur on sea , a small town of Fishermen was an important trading point during British reign. The place is famous for the sea beach of Bay of Bengal. The presence of old light house, ruins of old jetty depicts the past maritime glory of Gopalpur. The old jetties were renovated by Govt. of Odisha in 1970 to revive the past glory. Lack of proper commercial activities, the port could not come into the limelight. At present a new jetty is under construction. And once it is completed, it will become an important port of south Odisha.
Scenery of the place
Gopalpur on sea has got a beautiful beach. Serene environment, immense sailing opportunities, clusters of palm & coconut trees, white sand dunes and casuarinas plants makes the beach most pristine beaches of Odisha. The beach is ideal for both swimming and surfing. The horizon of deep blue sea and the blue sky is always a pleasant scene to watch.
