The Nursinghanath is another beautiful and holy place of Odisha is situated at the slope of Gandhamardan hill of Bolangir Dist. Presence of a couple of Perennial Streams and some sculptures with peaceful atmosphere and natural sceneries makes the place a popular and worthy pilgrimage place.
As per Hiuen-Tsang, the Chinese Traveler the place was once a centre for Buddhist scriptural training. Lord Nrusinghanath is the presided deity of the place. According to Devnagari Inscription, the temple was built by Baijal Dev in the early 15th Century AD.

Natural Beauty of the Place

The main attraction of the place is the Temple. It is said that the temple was built in 14th Century AD. Stone steps are built up in the hill side leading past the waterfall direct the pilgrims to a place having preserved relief sculptures.
The place is full of bounties of nature. The beautiful Gandharmardan Hill with full of trees is the main attraction of the place. The name of Gandharman hill is also found a place in the great epic Ramayana. So, it can be said that the hill is having trees of medicinal value. The hill is about 30 KM in length, 1.5 KM in height and 10 KM in width.
The other side of the hill, there exists another famous temple named HariShankar. It is just 16 Km away from Nrusinghanath.
Flow of a couple of Perennial Streams through the trees of the hill makes the scenery of the place more interesting and lovable.

Festival

A big fair is held annually here on the day Nrusimha-chatrurdasi during Vaishakha shukla chaturdashi(in the month of May). It attracts huge number of pilgrims to this place.

The distance of the place from West Bolangir by road is 110 KM.
About 440 Km by road from the State capital of Odisha, Bhubaneswar.
164 KM away from sambalpur by Road.
Nearest Railway Station is Khariar Road Railway Station.
