Hari Shankar Temple

As the name depicts itself, the place is meant for Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. Both Shiva and Vishnu  are the presiding deity here apart from other god and goddesses. It is situated in the district of Bolangir of Odisha and in the slopes of beautiful Gandhamardan Hills. Apart from the two lords, the place is also famous for its Natural Beauty. The presence of beautiful fountain, greenery and Mountain makes it a famous picnic spot  of Bolangir Dist. and Odisha as a whole.
In 14th Century AD, this place was discovered by the Royal Chauhan King named Maharaja Vaijjal Dev Chauhan of the then Odisha.  And the temple was constructed by the order of his queen and the deity has been worshipped since then.

Natural Beauties

The place is full of bounties of nature. The beautiful Gandharmardan Hill with full of trees is the main attraction of the place. The name of Gandharman hill is also found a place in the great epic Ramayana. So, it can be said that the hill is having trees of medicinal value. The hill is about 30 KM in length, 1.5 KM in height and 10 KM in width. Apart from scenic beauty, the hill is also a important source of income for the tribal people and others residing around it.
A Perennial Stream, flowing from the hill top by making its way on the body of Granite bed and through the trees with singing sweet music is another attraction of the place. Visitors just like to have a bath with the clean and cold water of the stream.
The other side of the hill, there exists another famous temple named Nrusinghanath. It is just 16 Km away from Harishankar.
Presence of other idols like dancing Ganesha makes the place holy and an attraction for pilgrims.

How to Reach the Place

The distance of the place from Bolangir by road is 70 KM.
About 400 Km by road from the State capital of Odisha, Bhubaneswar.
Nearest Railway Station is Bolangir Railway Station. And Bolangir is well connected by rail from Bhubaneswar.
